Kegare, monstrous creatures that spill out of the otherworld called Magano to prey on humans, plague Japan. Rokuro Enmado once dreamed of becoming the strongest exorcist, but a tragedy shattered that ambition and left him drifting through empty days. Then a girl named Benio Adashino literally falls out of the sky, living only to annihilate Kegare. Rokuro abandoned exorcism because of the Hinatsuki Tragedy, a massacre in which his fellow orphaned children died one after another, with Rokuro standing at its center. Benio also lost someone precious in that same battle, so their wounds are twin scars of one event. The head exorcist, Arima Tsuchimikado, senses the power sleeping in Rokuro's right arm and declares the pair the Twin Star Exorcists. Resisting all the way, Rokuro finally grips his talismans again. His long-buried resolve to face the past starts to bloom here.
