Ranma's rival Ryoga Hibiki debuts, and it's revealed he fell into the Spring of Drowned Black Piglet, so cold water turns him into the little pig "P-chan." Worse, Ryoga secretly loves Akane and ends up being cuddled by her in his piglet form, a cruel twist of fate. Ranma and Ryoga try to settle things violently, but once Ranma learns Ryoga's transformation secret he holds it as leverage. Akane never learns P-chan's true identity, even sleeping with the pig in her arms, making it heaven and hell for Ryoga at once. With more rivals piling in, the romantic warfare grows ever more chaotic.
