Martial artist Ranma Saotome fell into a cursed spring in China and now turns into a girl whenever splashed with cold water, switching back to a boy with hot water. Dragged home by his father Genma, he ends up living with the Tendo family, where he is abruptly engaged to the youngest daughter, tomboyish Akane. The two clash from the first moment, yet Akane can't help softening once she learns his secret.
