Does Gintoki have a secret child? One day a baby is left behind at the Yorozuya, and the shop is thrown into upheaval over Gintoki Jr. (?). As Shinpachi and Kagura genuinely panic, an unexpected side of Gintoki shows through as he wrestles clumsily with childcare. There's plenty more comedic chaos too: a life-or-death midsummer hunt for an electric fan, the neighborhood's annual test-of-courage contest, and a can't-afford-to-lose bug-catching showdown against the Shinsengumi. Volume 10 of Hideaki Sorachi's Edo-era sci-fi comedy pushes the silliness of the slice-of-life episodes to the limit while still tugging at the heart.

Gin Tama Vol. 10 spoilers
⚠️ Spoilers ahead.
The abandoned baby isn't Gintoki's real child but was left by a mother forced by circumstance to give him up. Grumbling all the while, Gintoki still protects the infant to the end, and his clumsy, deep-rooted kindness shines through. The child is safely returned to the mother, reaffirming that the Yorozuya is a place that "can't leave anyone in trouble alone." Even the gag episodes — the test of courage, the bug-catching duel — dig into the personalities of the Shinsengumi and the neighbors, adding depth to the series as an ensemble comedy.
