With Kuwabara kidnapped, Yusuke and his allies storm the cave where Sensui's gang lies in wait. Sensui plans to tear open a tunnel to the demon world, and to stop him the team must fight their way to the deepest chamber, cutting through the Seven led by Itsuki. When Yusuke finally reaches the bottom, he finds Sensui himself, a human who loathes humanity and cloaks his body in the ultimate battle aura known as the Sacred Energy. Sensui overwhelms Yusuke with his Sacred Energy and actually kills him. Yusuke dies completely, but that death is the trigger. The dormant blood of his ancestor Raizen awakens inside him and he is reborn as a demon. His revived aura dwarfs Sensui's power and the tide turns instantly. The man who mourned abandoning his humanity has, ironically, created something greater than himself. Sensui is already dying from illness, so the true reckoning is carried across into the demon world beyond the tunnel. The battle to protect the human world enters a new phase, at the cost of Yusuke becoming something no longer human.
