Ataru only wins the game of tag because Lum takes his cheer as a marriage proposal, and that misunderstanding locks in everything that follows. She refuses to leave Earth, dragging her doting fiance Rei and the whole class into escalating madness. Ataru keeps chasing his childhood sweetheart Shinobu, and every time he cheats he gets fried by Lum's lightning until he is charcoal-black. By the end of this collection the two are permanently glued together, birthing one of manga's most famous couples.
