The story leaves Paradis Island to depict the world some years later from Marley's perspective. The Titan powers carry a "curse" that ends the holder's life within 13 years, and the search for the next inheritors advances. Late in the volume, Marley plans a four-year campaign to retake Paradis. In the finale, a wounded soldier appearing at the internment-zone festival is hinted to be a grown Eren who has crossed over from the island—leaving a powerful hook for the next volume.
