Ever since the incident with the mysterious lady in the bath, who turned out to be the demon god Wolbach, Megumin has been acting strangely unsettled and distracted. Unable to watch her mope, Kazuma figures her old history with Wolbach is the real cause and works up the nerve to pry the story out of her. But the topic he digs into is exactly the wound she least wants touched. Volume 17 follows Kazuma's suffering after stepping on that landmine, while the girl's buried feelings slowly come to light.
