Hideo and Hiromi keep moving in search of a safer place. The behavior of the ZQN slowly comes into focus, and the eerie way they repeat certain words and memories grows more unsettling. Survivor communities and the ugliness of humans running wild in the chaos are laid bare, making clear that the ZQN are not the only true threat. In this extreme world Hideo gradually builds judgment and nerve, pressing forward even while burdened with Hiromi. A volume where the tension between human drama and horror grows thicker still.

⚠️ Spoilers ahead.
Hideo and Hiromi make contact with other survivors, but the group is split between those trying to keep order and those who, out of fear, want to cast others out. If Hiromi's half-ZQN state is exposed she will be in danger, so Hideo is forced to rely on lies and quick thinking to protect her. A ZQN swarm assault piles on, and the fragile community begins to collapse. Hideo raises Sadao and shields Hiromi from both humans and ZQN. The once cowardly man moves palpably closer to becoming a fighter.
