After the Kodokan members drive back the Yagyu Four Devas, the battle for Otae finally erupts into a two-on-two final showdown. The opponent is Kyubei, the young head of the Yagyu clan, and against her godspeed blade Shinpachi draws his sword in earnest for his sister's sake. More than skill with the sword, the loneliness and twisted love Kyubei harbors are laid bare, driving the duel toward an unexpected conclusion. After crowning the climax of the Yagyu arc, the tone flips completely: Kondo's marriage fiasco, Zenzo's way of life, Sadaharu's romance, Katsura at driving school, the Shogun turning up at a hostess club, and a tale involving Okita's sister unleash a barrage of gags.
