Edo has been invaded by aliens known as the Amanto, forced open, and stripped of its swords. The samurai are a dying breed, yet one man refuses to let their spirit die: Gintoki Sakata, a lazy, sweets-obsessed layabout with dead fish eyes and a wooden sword. He runs the Yorozuya, an odd-jobs shop that takes any gig for cash. When earnest young Shinpachi Shimura crosses his path, a wildly unconventional Edo comedy begins, blending sci-fi, samurai action, and shameless gags.
