Edo period, Japan. Hanbei and Masakichi, two peasants who should have drowned in the river, wake inside an abandoned temple. At its center floats an inscrutable black sphere. Ignoring their confusion, the orb hands down a merciless order: kill Miyamoto Musashi. With no idea why they live or how to survive, the dead are gathered into a grotesque hunt.
