Goku and Vegeta rescue Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Piccolo from inside Buu, but the enraged monster splits himself into pure Kid Buu and detonates the Earth. The survivors barely escape to the World of the Kais. Even Super Saiyan 3 is not enough for Goku, so in the end he gathers energy from all of humanity into a colossal Spirit Bomb that erases Buu. Years later, Buu is reborn as the kindhearted boy Uub, and Goku leaves to train him as a new disciple, closing the story with the words "Bye-bye, Dragon Ball."
