The "Old Witch Legend Murder" then weaves a local ghost story into a killer's trick, exposing genuine human malice beneath the folklore. Later, during an interview at mystery writer Moroguchi's home, three guests freeze the instant the previous editor's suicide is mentioned. A clue arriving from the west, the fate of a single photograph, and the ominous shadow of "the Company" quietly draw the thread back toward the Black Organization.
