Yet L refuses to let go, finally reveals himself and approaches Light directly; the two enter the same university and live under mutual surveillance in a bizarre partnership. Just then a Second Kira surfaces, hijacking a TV station to declare "I am Kira." Now a target himself, Light sees a chance to recruit this new Kira as an ally and schemes to make contact. The board shifts into a three-way struggle.
