At last Guts is swallowed by the cursed Berserker Armor, a relic that draws out monstrous power in exchange for putting his very life at risk. His duel with the giant apostle Grunbeld has passed beyond anything human, and the rampaging armor begins to tear Guts's own body apart from within. If he keeps fighting, only death awaits. As his companions look on helplessly, the apprentice witch Schierke dives alone into the depths of his od, his life force, to drag the swordsman back to sanity.
